Featuring ten unique earthworks which are built by the prehistoric Indians or Adena-Hopewell people, Mounds State Park has many activities to offer. The Great Mound, which is the largest earthwork, is believed to have been made around 160 B.C. and from where the astronomical alignments could be seen, archeological surveys point out that the mounds were employed as gathering areas for religious ceremonies.

The Pinson Mounds, which is a national historic landmark and is also one of the 2 state archeological parks, is reserved to protect the prehistoric remains that are found there. The mounds consist of a geometric enclosure, at least 15 earthen mounds, habitation areas as well as related earthworks in a part which includes about 1,200 acres.

Restrooms with a washer, dryers and six showers are also available to ensure maximum comfort during the camping season. However, campers must provide their own dishwashing liquid, dish towel, single sheets, blankets, pillow cases, dishwashing detergent and pillows. The equipment and amenities provided in the cabins will definitely ensure that everyone will completely enjoy and always remember their camping experience in the area.
