This reservoir is not a DNR lake, but it is required that you have a fishing license when fishing. If you are fishing from the bank you must have a “Bank Permit” from the marina or you will be fined.

During the winter months, you will find a great many people who pull their ice shanties out on to the reservoir to enjoy a little bit of ice fishing.

Hiking and Biking

- There is a 5 mile trail that is primarily used as a dirt bike trail, but is also used as a hiking and mountain biking trail. Use caution when using the Prairie Creek Reservoir trails due to the dirt bike dominance. The trail is open from dawn till dusk year round and has a skill rating of moderate.

Also available are seasonal camping spots for campers and R.V’s.

Boating

- Boats of all sorts are welcome at the reservoir. On any given evening you will find sailboats, pontoons, bass boats and non-motorized boats on the water. The reservoir has a speed limit of 25-30 MPH and tickets will be issued for speeding. You must purchase a launch permit for motorized boats and non motorized boats.

The Beach

- One of the most popular amenities at Prairie Creek Reservoir is it’s beach. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the beaches of the reservoir are packed with families enjoying a day in the sun. There are no fees to spend time at the beach, but beware due to the fact that there are no lifeguards either.

Along with the main activities there are playgrounds for the kids, picnic tables, basketball courts and volleyball.

During the summer months, Prairie Creek Reservoir hosts a great deal of events. From concerts and birthday parties to a 4th a July fireworks show.
